Eye Shape Guide
Welcome to Our Eye Makeup Journey
We all want eyes that look bigger, brighter, and more expressive. But the secret isn't one-size-fits-all—different eye shapes call for different makeup techniques.
By understanding our unique eye shape and applying the right methods, we can enhance our natural beauty and make our eyes truly stand out. Let's explore how to tailor our eye makeup to fit our eye shape perfectly.
Almond Eyes: Emphasize the Natural Shape
Almond eyes are considered ideal because of their balanced shape. To enhance them, we focus on accentuating the natural curve. We apply a medium-toned eyeshadow on the lid and deepen the outer corner with a darker shade to add depth.
Using a thin, winged eyeliner that follows the eye's natural line elongates the eyes beautifully. Curling lashes and applying mascara on both upper and lower lashes opens up the eyes further. For almond eyes, blending is key to keeping the look soft and elegant.
Hooded Eyes: Create the Illusion of More Lid Space
Hooded eyes have a fold that partially covers the eyelid, making the lid appear smaller. We use matte eyeshadows in neutral tones on the crease, applying slightly above the natural crease to create the illusion of lifted lids.
Eyeliner should be thin and close to the lash line to avoid overwhelming the eyes.
A subtle wing flick helps elongate the eyes without emphasizing the hood. Highlighting the inner corners with a light shimmer brightens the eyes, and curling lashes is essential to open up the look.
Round Eyes: Soften and Elongate
Round eyes are naturally large and open, but we can create a more elongated shape for a balanced look. We apply darker eyeshadow on the outer third of the eyelid, blending it outward and slightly upward.
Eyeliner should be thicker towards the outer corner with a gentle wing to stretch the eyes horizontally. Avoid lining the entire lower lash line heavily; instead, we softly smudge eyeshadow along the lower lash line for definition without closing the eyes.
Monolid Eyes: Add Dimension and Definition
Monolid eyes lack a visible crease, so the goal is to add depth and dimension. We use gradient eyeshadow techniques, starting with a light base on the entire lid and gradually layering darker shades near the lash line.
Tightlining the upper waterline with dark eyeliner enhances lash fullness.
Applying mascara and, if desired, false lashes adds volume. A soft shimmer on the center of the lid or inner corners brings brightness without overpowering the natural shape.
Downturned Eyes: Lift and Brighten
Downturned eyes have outer corners that slightly droop. To lift them, we focus darker eyeshadow on the outer corner, blending it upward toward the temples.
Winged eyeliner angled slightly upward counteracts the downturned shape. Highlighting the brow ridge and inner corners adds lift and brightness. Curling lashes and applying mascara on the outer lashes emphasizes the lifted effect.
